The at grade Stations Study of the Purple Line is part of an extensive transportation project in the Washington D.C. area. There are 21 stations, 12 are at grade, along this 16-mile rapid transit route spanning from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George's County. KGP developed the concept design for all 21 stations.
Organization and Overall Platform Enhancement: The design encompasses the entire platform, with a keen eye on ensuring accessibility, smooth circulation, efficient train boarding, adequate lighting, and a thoughtful response to various climatic conditions. The objective is to provide all passengers with a seamless, comfortable, safe station experience.
Canopy Approach for Efficiency: This approach carefully examines sustainable materials and shapes that reduce maintenance requirements and promote environmental sustainability. By choosing materials with durability and low environmental impact, this approach aims to create efficient and eco-friendly stations that are functional and aesthetically pleasing.
